Donald Villere was born in New Orleans and raised in Covington, La. He has been a resident of Mandeville for 39 years and has been married to Colleen Villere for the past 43 years. They have two children and three grandchildren. Don graduated from St. Paul's in Covington and attended LSU in Baton Rouge.

He is a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, a member of Northshore Kiwanis, where he assisted in the creation of the Children's Playground, Past Chairman of Fire District #4 (started the Emergency Response Ambulance Service) and is Past Board Member of 4th Ward Recreation, which gave birth to Pelican Park. Don is currently a member of the Board at Lakeview Regional Medical Center, a member of the Children's Museum Advisory Board, and is a graduate of New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute Class of 2012 and Leadership St. Tammany West, Class of 2015.

Don was an elected member of the St. Tammany Parish School Board for 14 years, serving as President in 2005 and 2006 and was Chairman of the Business Affairs and Administrative Committee from 2003 - 2010. He is also a charter member of the Northshore Republican Men's club.

In 2010, he was elected Mayor of the City of Mandeville and re-elected in 2012.  Since taking office, he has also been elected Vice President of District I of the Louisiana Municipal Association and is a board member of the Municipal Police Employees Retirement System and the Municipal Employees Retirement System.
