Digital Darkroom Information Day
Digital Darkroom Workshop
Digital Darkroom is hands-on workshop to preserve photos and history

MANDEVILLE, LA - The public can join in a three-day, hands-on workshop to learn how to use their own digital equipment to archive family histories and document family and community life. With the onset of Hurricane season, it's a good time to learn how to download and back up photos to help preserve memories.

Whether using a phone camera, DSLR or other camera, the Digital Darkroom workshop will teach best practices for downloading and backing up images, as well as selecting photos to edit and prepare for print.

Workshop instruction will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 20 and June 27 at the Mandeville Trailhead Depot, 675 Lafitte St.  Workshop participants can also assist with the Old Mandeville Historical Inventory Day, 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 23 to learn hands-on how to create high resolution images, preserve old photos and preserve community history.

Cost of the three-part workshop is $100 and is limited to 10 participants. It will be led by instructors with the Pontchartrain Film Festival, a project of the nonprofit Olde Towne Arts Center's Digital Arts program.

No equipment is necessary but participants are encouraged to bring their cameras or laptops to follow along. Those interested in the workshop are invited to find out more during an information day to be held Monday, June 18 from 3-5 p.m. at the Mandeville Trailhead Depot, 675 Lafitte St.
